You are invited to join the 3rd Annual Cycle to Lake Junaluska which will take place Monday, June 13 to Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Join us as we pedal to Lake Junaluska in a charity ride that benefits the Campus Ministries of our conference. This year the C2LJ Team have been hard at work to secure an ALL NEW ROUTE of 155 miles with a new host site for this year’s edition of C2LJ.
- Day 1 will start in Gastonia, NC at First UMC on Monday, June 13 and cycle to Polkville, NC. Polkville and Casar United Methodist Churches will once again be our hosts us, and if you remember, they go way beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcomed. This route will be around 45 miles on beautiful rural roads in the heart of the Piedmont.
- Day 2 will take us from Polkville to Hendersonville on a metric century of 62 miles. It is our longest day and will follow much of the route used by Cycle North Carolina in the fall of 2015, only in reverse. The day will conclude with with a 2 mile climb up to a final run in to picturesque Hendersonville. Our new host site will be First UMC, very near the downtown shops for evening relaxation.
- Day 3 will conclude will a 45 mile route to Lake Junaluska (Waynesville, NC). The course will take us north along the French Broad River to the west side of Asheville and on towards Lake J. Fear not, will have a much gentler route into Waynesville than 2015. We will conclude our ride with a celebration meal at the hall near the swimming pool where you can use the showers before heading home.
This is a full supported ride with indoor camping, meals, rest stops, showers and SAG support. Instead of a tee-shirt, our team is very excited to offer you a 2016 C2LJ cycle cap and a great “SWAG” bag as a way of recognizing your participation.
