CHURCHES + CHILDREN + SCHOOLS =
It all adds up! When United Methodist churches reach out to children in our local schools, everyone scores an A+! We give thanks that congregations across our conference have been connecting with schools through food and backpack ministries, tutoring and homework help programs, school supply drives, and teacher support and assistance. In addition, the movement called C4C.
(Congregations for Children) is helping churches transform the lives of school children impacted by poverty through collaborative partnerships with public schools. But, we want to do more!
To encourage local churches and missional networks to connect in meaningful ways with schools in their communities, we ask that every church across our conference receive a special offering for Children and Schools on Sunday, June 5th. Gifts received are to be sent to your district office for later distribution within your district. Churches and missional networks will be given an opportunity to submit grant requests for a portion of this money to be used in connecting creatively with a local school and supporting its children.
Each church is asked to report the amount collected on June 5 to the district office promptly on June 6, so that we can celebrate the conference-wide offering when we gather for annual conference.
We will also receive two special offerings for the same purpose during the opening worship service (Thursday, June 16, at 10:30 am) and the closing worship service (Sunday, June 19, at 10:00 am) of annual conference.
Jesus had a heart for children and gave them his time and energy. So should we! Please give generously to these special offerings!

2016 PROGRAM AND REPORTS BOOKLET
This year’s issue of Program and Reports is 95 pages. The Supplement to this publication will be posted online in June and distributed at registration at annual conference. It will have the information needed to conduct business and to find your way at conference. In addition, all of the reports included in this publication will also be printed in the annual Journal.
We anticipate that you will not need to print this publication of the Program and Reports book, however if you wish to do so for your own convenience, it is formatted to print front and back on 3-hole punch paper.
NOTE: If you are used to carrying a mobile device, the AC2016.org site is fully compatible for use with phones and tablets. Rather than printing documents, you may wish to use your device to keep your documents handy.

As part of our celebration of Annual Conference 2016, the Annual Conference Worship Committee is asking churches and groups across the conference to put their creativity to work and to design bookmarks that be distributed at the closing worship service on Sunday, June 19th. Using the conference theme of “Go Light Your World” and the theme Scripture of Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid,” we encourage children’s groups, older adult ministries, youth groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, United Methodist Men and Women’s groups – anyone – to design a bookmark to give away at Annual Conference. Please use the sample bookmark found at this link.
We encourage all groups and individuals to use their imaginations to capture the theme and Scripture for Annual Conference and to design a bookmark using permanent media such as markers or acrylic paints. Include the artist’s first name only and age on the back of the bookmark.
Mail the completed bookmarks to Rev. Oliver Helsabeck, Fairfield UMC, 1505 NC Highway 62 West, High Point, NC 27263 by May 31st.
