AC 2016 Housing Information

This was sent by mail to all clergy and lay members of Annual Conference in January 2016.  This is the only postal mail that will be sent between now and Annual Conference.



We are looking forward to welcoming you to Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska for the June 16-19, 2016 session of the Western North Carolina Conference! Enclosed is information for your use in making lodging reservations. Please read the following material very carefully!

The clergy session will be Wednesday evening, June 15. The opening worship service for all lay and clergy members and guests is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m., June 16.

The business will begin following lunch.  Annual Conference will adjourn on Sunday at noon.

Registration for housing for Annual Conference will be the same as it was last year. In order to request housing in one of the Junaluska-owned facilities (not including the cottages), you will submit a Housing Request Reservation Form (included in this mailing) between Monday, February 15, 2016 and Friday, February 26, 2016. This can be submitted in 3 different ways:

  • mail your completed form to Lake Junaluska Reservations (PO Box 67, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745),
  • fax it to reservations at Lake Junaluska (828-452-2225),
  • or fill in the on-line form available at (That form will be available only between February 15-February 26)

Once all of the reservation forms are received, persons will be randomly placed into available rooms. You will be notified by Friday, March 11, 2016.

Reservations for a Lake Junaluska-owned property:

The following seven facilities are owned by Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center (see enclosed rate sheet):

  • The Terrace
  • Junaluska Apartments
  • Mountainview Lodge
  • Camp Adventure
  • Lambuth Inn
  • Sunnyside Lodge
  • Lakeside Lodge

IF YOU STAY AT THE TERRACE OR LAMBUTH INN, your meals will be included in the daily rate, with the opportunity for you to designate, at the time of check-in, which meals you will not need. Once that designation has been made, there will be no reduction in charge if you attend a special banquet elsewhere or miss a meal.



If you are unable to obtain housing in one of the facilities listed above, or if you prefer to stay in a facility off the Junaluska grounds, contact the local Chamber of Commerce.  They can be reached at 828-456-3021

Lake Junaluska will process handicap and special needs requests this year. You should follow the instructions above. There is a place on the request form to indicate if you have any special needs. Lodging near Stuart Auditorium is very limited. Many handicap accessible parking places are designated on the Junaluska campus. There are more requests for special consideration than can be honored. Please note: Only the special needs of the conference member, not those of his or her spouse, may be taken into consideration.


Deaf interpretation will be provided at each worship service. Transcription services projected on a screen will be offered for all sessions. Please contact Kim Ingram by March 1st at ( if there are any other special needs for consideration, including Spanish or Korean language interpretation.



Registration will open at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15. It will close at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16. An exact schedule will be available in the program and reports book in advance of conference. Please plan to arrive and register within this time frame in order to receive a nametag and be eligible to participate.



If you are a lay member of conference representing your local church/charge and find that you cannot attend the conference, please pass this material to your pastor, who will give it to the alternate member. Member information should be updated by your pastor directly in the LCLCL (local church leadership contact list) until June 1st.

District at-large members who can’t come should notify the district office. Changes can only be made until June 1st.

  • BIKE – The Cycle to Lake Junaluska (C2LJ) group bicycle ride – 150 miles covered in three days – will take cyclists from Hickory to Lake Junaluska prior to the Annual Conference. Funds will be raised for campus ministries while encouraging fitness and fellowship among clergy and laity. The ride is Monday through Wednesday, June 13-15. Limited to 40 riders. Registration will be available at


  • RUN/WALK – The Emory Club WNC Conference 5K will be offered again this year. All are invited to participate in this

3.1 mile run/walk around Lake Junaluska. Proceeds support mission focus of the WNC Conference. The date/time will be announced in the spring.

This is the only mailing that you will receive through postal mail. Further information and pre-conference materials will be posted on the conference website ( when available. Please check it regularly beginning in April for further information.


Petitions to be considered by the body will be due by April 1st to the Conference Secretary. If you have any questions, check with your Pastor or District Office, or call the Conference Office.
